WPF Advises UN regarding Global Dialogue on the Governance of AI
WPF has responded to the UN’s call for recommendations regarding how it should implement two of its major projects relating to the Global Digital Compact; that is, its pending Global Dialogue on the Governance of AI, and its Scientific Panel on AI.
WPF responded with detailed suggestions, and urged the UN to:
– Ensure a balance of stakeholders are present, with robust regional, national, and subnational representation in its efforts, using the UN/ISO M49 standard.
– Ensure that AI governance tools receive attention, as well as ensuring a focus on the full implementation layer of AI and not just the development layer.
– Work toward creating standards for AI governance tools so AI governance tool metrics are reliable and effective for evaluating AI systems for trustworthy AI and good governance.
– Ensure that the development agenda in AI is meaningfully considered in the work of the panels.
