March 6:

Medical ID Theft Update, IPPC U.S. Working Group

Executive Director Pam Dixon is presenting a webinar to members of the IPPC US Working Group. The webinar, to be held at the monthly meeting, will cover what medical identity theft is, how the crime operates (with new research on this), where the crime operates (also with new research), and discussion of solutions going forward. The webinar will include time for questions and answers.

March 23:

Annual BCLT Privacy Law Forum Silicon Valley

WPF will be participating at the annual BCLT Privacy Law Forum, to be held this year 23 March 2018 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Palo Alto, California.
Topics include:
•the global diffusion (or not) of EU data protection principles;
•new requirements for the explainability of algorithms; and
•the possibility that antitrust principles can be used to address concerns around market power and privacy.
